W&H presents Piezomed Pro for rhinoplasty
At the 3rd German Rhinoplasty Congress in Frankfurt held in early May, cutting-edge surgical techniques, the latest scientific findings, and advancements in rhinoplasty were showcased. The congress offered a platform for exchanging knowledge, networking, and further training. In this exclusive setting, W&H Med presented the new Piezomed Pro – piezo surgery specially developed for ear, nose, and throat and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic surgical procedures.
Piezo technology is being used more and more frequently. W&H Med, the Medical Business Unit of the W&H Group, will provide ENT specialists and plastic surgeons with an optimal solution for gentle and safe treatments: the new Piezomed Pro, available from December 2024. The new system is suitable for both aesthetic and functional rhinoplasty, as well as for oral and maxillofacial surgeries.
Modularity for optimum flexibility
The new Piezomed Pro together with the W&H Amadeo is a flexible 2-in-1 solution: the modular device combines a powerful surgical motor with piezo surgery. The W&H Amadeo can simply be connected to the Piezomed Pro. The innovative solution enables a particularly optimised workflow: both surgical devices can be operated with a wireless foot control, and the flexibility of the system makes it possible to adapt it to the surgeon's various requirements. An extensive portfolio of tips completes the overall package. The Piezomed Pro tips are versatile and cover a wide range of procedures and surgical techniques – ensuring every surgeon finds their preferred tools.
Patients in focus
The new product solution was presented to top-class plastic surgeons and ENT specialists for the first time at the 3rd German Rhinoplasty Congress. "For me, the new surgical system from W&H MED is an all-in-one solution, as ultrasonic technology and burs are integrated in one device. I was involved in the development of the exclusive piezo tip set for dorsal preservation. With it, we have made the surgery even safer because subdorsal structures and radix can be treated more gently," says Dr Milos Kovacevic, specialist in ENT medicine and facial plastic surgery. Utilising ultrasonic technology, Piezomed Pro selectively removes hard tissue, ensuring minimally invasive treatments. "Our technology represents an innovative alternative to hammers and chisels. Piezo surgery in rhinoplasty shortens the post-operative healing process. Patients have minor severe swelling and pain after surgery. In short, the entire healing process is much more comfortable for patients," explains Andreas Stegbuchner, W&H Product Director Medical.
